КНДА

Консультативні наради з Договору про Антарктику

Щороку 12 країн, які підписали Договір про Антарктику, а також ті країни, що зацікавлені проводити науково-дослідну діяльність в цьому регіоні, зустрічаються на Консультативних нарадах з Договору про Антарктику (КНДА). На таких зустрічах представники країн обмінюються інформацією та проводять консультації стосовно діяльності на крижаному континенті. Крім того, на нарадах для урядів країн ухвалюються рекомендації, що сприяють дотриманню принципів і цілей Договору про Антарктику.

1998 року, в рік набуття чинності Протоколу з охорони навколишнього середовища до Договору про Антарктику, було створено Комітет з охорони навколишнього середовища. Засідання Комітету зазвичай проводяться одночасно з КНДА. У такий спосіб питання, пов’язані з охороною і раціональним використанням довкілля континенту, вирішуються ефективніше. Крім чергових Консультативних нарад і засідань Комітету, консультативні сторони також скликають Спеціальні консультативні наради з Договору про Антарктику та Наради експертів для розгляду окремих актуальних проблем.
