In June 2020, the Encyclopedia of World Biomes will be released – a three-volume edition, which contains information about all the ecosystems of the highest rank – biomes – on planet Earth. Dr Ivan Parnikoza and Dr Iryna Kozeretska, scientists from the National Antarctic Scientific Center, have authored one of the sections of this encyclopedia – the Antarctic terrestrial ecosystems.
“The section on each of the biomes was written by the well-known experts whose research is of unimpeachable authority. We are proud that from the entire world scientific community the publishers entrusted the description of Antarctic land biomes to the scientists of the National Antarctic Scientific Center. It is their article that in future will be the primary source of information from which polar ecologists from any country will start their search,” explained NASC Director Evgen Dykyi.
The Encyclopedia of World Biomes was prepared by the world-famous scientific publishing house Elsevier.
The article by Ivan Parnikoza and Iryna Kozyretska “Antarctic Terrestrial Biomes: The Poorest, the Most Extreme and Most Sensitive on the Planet” can be found here.
