It is summer in Ukraine now, it is hot and green, and in Antarctica, 15 thousand kilometers from us, it is winter, ice and snow, among which Ukrainian scientists live and conduct research. We invite everyone to cool off a bit and learn more about the history of the Ukrainian Antarctic station, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. You can do this at a joint exhibition of the National Antarctic Scientific Center (NASC) and Odesa National Scientific Library, which will run from July 22 to August 31, 2021.
The exhibition will feature 25 large historical and modern photos about Antarctica and the work of Ukrainian polar explorers, 3D photo zone, video about the nature of the icy continent, polar artifacts and the like. And during the opening of the exhibition, visitors will also be able to join a short tour led by NASC director Evgen Dykyi and participants of Antarctic expeditions.
Opening of the exhibition: July 22 at 11:00
Address: Odesa, Pastera Str, 13, Odesa National Scientific Library.
Media Accreditation: until 18.00 July 21 following the link.

Reference:
February 6, 2021, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the transfer of the Antarctic station from Great Britain to Ukraine. It was on this day in 1996 that a blue-and-yellow flag was raised over the Faraday station, and its name was changed to Akademik Vernadsky.
Only 30 countries of the world have their year-round stations in Antarctica. For Ukraine, in addition to prestige on the world stage, it is also a great window of opportunity: our scientists have the opportunity to join the study of problems on a global scale.
For 25 years, brave Ukrainian men and women have gone on year-long expeditions to explore Antarctica, maintain continuous series of observations (some of them have been running since 1947) and ensure the operation of the station.
