NASC has developed a Gazetteer standardizing geographical names in Vernadsky station area

NASC employees have developed the Gazetteer of Geographical Names of the Argentine Islands – the Kyiv Peninsula region (West Antarctica). This interesting and useful Gazetteer is dedicated to standardization of geographical names in the fieldwork area of annual Ukrainian Antarctic Expeditions, which includes mostly the Argentine Islands and some other nearby islands of the Wilhelm Archipelago as well as the Kyiv Peninsula coastline (West Antarctica).

The authors of the publication are Andrii Fedchuk, Iryna Drogushevska, Hanna Yevchun, Valeriia Savchenko and Ivan Parnikoza

The Gazetteer will be useful to anyone interested in the history and geography of West Antarctica as well as for those who also wants to correctly, according to the current rules of Ukrainian spelling, present the results of Antarctic research in various editions including the professional ones. It is also important that the Gazetteer unifies the use of Antarctic toponyms, simplifies the information search by geographical objects and orientation during fieldwork.

The Gazetteer is freely accessible at the link.

Thanks to the authors for a useful and important publication!
