The Antarctic Week – an action to create and improve articles dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the continent’s discovery – will be held in Ukrainian Wikipedia on January 13-28. The initiators of the project are the Public Association Wikimedia Ukraine and the State Institution National Antarctic Scientific Center.
The main goal of the Antarctic Week is to fill the Ukrainian Wikipedia with quality articles about the Sixth Continent. We also want to get rid of the Soviet myths about the discoverers of Antarctica; so we urge the participants of the Antarctic Week to refer mainly to the English-language sources.
The project page has a list of more than 20 priority articles to be created, though you can create other articles about Antarctica or improve existing ones. More about the Antarctic Week at http://antarctic.wikimedia.org.ua
The five most active authors will receive souvenirs from the National Antarctic Scientific Center, and all active participants will receive prizes and souvenirs from the Public Association Wikimedia Ukraine. Awarding of the winners will take place in mid-February.
