What factors affect the change in snow depth near Akademik Vernadsky station? Find out the scientists’ findings based on the results of measurements over the past 20 years.

What microorganisms are found in the rhizosphere (plant root zone) of Deschampsia antarctica and what is their phytostimulating effect for the survival of this plant in Antarctica?

What was the Ionospheric response to the February 27, 2023 intense geomagnetic storm over Kharkiv and Akademik Vernadsky station?

These and other studies of the icy continent can be found in the new issue of the Ukrainian Antarctic Journal, a scientific professional edition of the National Antarctic Scientific Center. The electronic version is available here.

This issue contains 9 scientific articles on the main areas of Ukrainian Antarctic research: hydrometeorology and oceanography, geospace research, biology and even medicine.

There is also an article in the field of international relations, which describes Ukraine’s contribution to POLARIN, a Horizon Europe (HORIZON) project, – an international network of polar research infrastructures, where Ukraine is represented by Akademik Vernadsky station and the RV Noosfera.

All articles can be read on the UAJ website. Abstracts are posted in Ukrainian and English, and the articles are presented in the original language (mainly in English).

We remind you that since 2019 UAJ articles have been presented in Scopus, and since 2022 they have been indexed in it.

Further research by Ukrainian scientists is possible thanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which defend our state and our future at the front. Many thanks to them for that!
