Summer is coming to an end in Antarctica, which means that it is time to make a shift of polar explorers at Vernadsky Station.
The 30th Ukrainian Antarctic Expedition (UAE), which has been working at the station for almost a year, will be replaced by the team of the 31st UAE.
The new expedition has 14 participants. In particular, there are 9 scientists (4 meteorologists, 3 biologists, and 2 geophysicists) and 5 representatives of the life support team: a system administrator, a diesel engineer, a mechanic, a doctor, and a cook. For the first time, the expedition will be led by a woman — meteorologist Anzhelika Hanchuk.
Like previous expeditions, the 31st UAE will conduct geophysical, meteorological, and biological research in Antarctica, as well as ensure the operation of the Vernadsky station.
