Evgen Dykyi, Director

Born on August 28, 1973.

In 1997, Evgen Dykyi graduated from the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, and in 2001 – post-graduate studies at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, majoring in Ecology. In 2007, he defended his dissertation about ecology of the Black Sea, and got a PhD in biological sciences.

From 2001 to 2008, he worked as a senior lecturer and deputy dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. During 2008-2014, he was a researcher at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the National Pedagogical Dragomanov University.

In 2014, he went to the war-front as part of the volunteer battalion “Aidar”, commanded a company. Evgen Dykyi was awarded the “Defender of the Fatherland” medal and the award of the Minister of Defense “Military Valor”. After demobilization due to the injuries he received, he returned to research and scientific-administrative work: from April 2015 – deputy director of the Ukrainian Scientific Center for Marine Ecology (Odesa), from March 2016 – acting director of the Ukrainian Research Antiplague Institute (Odesa).

From February 6, 2018 – acting director of the National Antarctic Scientific Center. On July 8, 2019, during the elections, the scientific team of the National Antarctic Scientific Center elected Evgen Dykyi as the director of the institution. 96% of employees of the National Antarctic Scientific Center voted for his candidacy.

Has a number of scientific publications. He developed educational programs for bachelors and masters, as well as the State Standard of Education in the specialty “Ecology”.

Over the past 20 years, he has been the executor and author of a number of projects, including international ones, related to the development of scientific research in the Black and Azov Seas. Developer of the Concept and State Program of Biological Safety of Ukraine.
